    DANIELLE KOST PARRISH - CLASS OF 1983

 Danielle is a graduate of Vermilion High School, Class of 1983. During her high school athletic career, Danielle was a 4-year letter winner in basketball and track.  In basketball, she was named first team Lakeland Conference and Honorable mention All-Ohio.  In track, Danielle held high school records in the high jump, 100m hurdles, 200m hurdles, 400m, 800m and as a member of the 4 X 400 and 4 X 800 relay teams.  In 1982, Danielle broke the indoor Ohio High School state record for the high jump with a jump of 5’9 ˝”.   In the outdoor Ohio High School state championships, she finished 3rd in the 800 in 1982, and in 1983, placed 3rd in the 4 X 800 relay and was runner-up in the high jump.  Upon graduation she accepted a full scholarship to Ohio State University where she earned eight varsity letters in track and was named team captain in 1986-1987.  In 1985, Danielle won the Big Ten Championship with a high -ump of 5’ 10 ˝” and also qualified for the NCAA Championships.  In 1987, she was the Big Ten high jump runner-up.  Academically, Danielle was named to the Dean’s List six times, and in 1985 was named an Academic All American.  Danielle received her bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University’s College of Education with a major in Sports Management.  In 1999, she ran in the Chicago Marathon. In 2000, she ran in the Boston Marathon.  In 2005, Danielle received her Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Cleveland State University.  Married to Monty Parrish, they reside in Amherst with their two sons Robert and Tyler. She is currently teaching and coaching at Lake Ridge Academy.  Danielle Parrish will be escorted by VHS Student Council member Andy Edmonds.
