DAVID FRANK WORKMAN - CLASS OF 1993

DAVID “FRANK” WORKMAN – David “Frank” Workman is a graduate from Vermilion High School, Class of 1993. As a senior, Frank won the Ohio 189 lb. State Wrestling Championship to finish the year with an impressive record of 38 wins and one loss. In April of 1993, he competed at the National High School Wrestling Tournament in Pittsburgh and compiled a record of eight wins and one loss to become the High School National Runner-up. Upon graduation from high school, Frank received an appointment to the Naval Academy. Mr. Workman was a four-year varsity wrestler at the 190 lb. weight class. As captain of the United States Naval Academy wrestling team, Frank qualified for the NCAA Nationals in 1997. Also in 1997, he earned seventh place in the National Freestyle Wrestling Championships. For the past four years, Frank has been on the All-Marine Wrestling team wrestling at 212 lb. Greco Roman. He was ranked third in the nation in 2003-2004 and represented the United States on the World Team. Among his many outstanding awards and accomplishments, he has been a five time recipient of the All-Marine Wrestler Award, as well as the Senior Greco-Roman All-American Award. Mr. Workman was a 2001 Armed Forces Freestyle Silver Medalist, and received fourth place in the 2001 Freestyle Military World Championships. He competed in May of 2004 for the 212 lb. Greco Roman spot on the Olympic Team, but did not qualify. This past spring, Frank was inducted into the Lorain County Wrestling Hall of Fame. In July of 2005, Captain Frank Workman received the United States Naval Achievement Medal in recognition of his outstanding tenure as director of curriculum for the Marine Corps Officer’s Candidate School. Frank is married to the former Tina Marie Bozzi, also a Vermilion High School graduate. Frank and Tina presently reside in Virginia. Mr. Frank Workman will be escorted by VHS Student Council member Morgen Wilson.
