VHS Art Students Excel at Lorain County Scholastic Art Fair

Art instructors Mrs. Christen Schneid and Mrs. Whitney Ryba are proud to announce Vermilion High School’s winners in the 46th annual Lorain County Scholastic Art Competition.

The competition included over 1,200 entries from 14 regional schools. After completion of the judging, 38 Vermilion High School student-artists received 57 total awards. Fourteen of those students received multiple awards, an achievement that is unprecedented in the history of the competition.

Three Vermilion students received the prestigious Gold Key finalist award, with Sophomore Eric McGuinn receiving two Gold Key awards for his photo entries seen here. Junior Nicole Feigi and Sophomore Reina Raynes also earned Gold Key Finalist awards for their projects that are shown here. These Gold Key award winners will go on to New York City to be judged on a national level.

The exhibition of this year's entries will remain on display at Lorain County Community College's Stocker Center from January 14 through February 16, 2014. The exhibit is open for public viewing Monday through Friday from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM, in the evening on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and on Sundays from noon to 4:00 PM.

Congratulations to all of these outstanding VHS artists!
