Children who will be 5 years old on or before September 30, 2018 are eligible to attend Kindergarten in the 2018-2019 school year. Enrollment in Kindergarten is a three step process:
Step 1: Online pre-registration Online registration opens March 15 for new Kindergarten students. To register, goto and click on the Parents tab. Follow the directions to the New Student Registration Instructions. Complete the online pre-registration form. www.vermilionschools.org
Step 2: Registration completion Once the pre-registration is complete, you will be prompted to set an appointment to complete the process by bringing required documents to the Administration office located in Vermilion High School, 1250 Sanford Street, Vermilion. You must bring ALL of the required documents listed in the pre-registration information.
Step 3: Kindergarten screeningAll incoming Kindergarten students are assessed using the DIAL-4, a research based assessment of pre-Kindergarten skills. This assessment is not used to determine a student’s eligibility for Kindergarten, but rather gives important information that allows the school to develop the best educational plan for each child. Families will be contacted regarding dates and times for Kindergarten screening.
It is very important that parents/guardians complete the full registration process so that enrollment is completed. If you have any questions, please contact the Vermilion Elementary School office at 440-204-1703 or the district registrar at 440-204-1700, ext. 124. More details about the 2018-2019 Kindergarten year will be shared at the Parent Information meeting to be held in May. Parents will be notified of the date and time, and babysitting will be provided.
