2020-2021 Kindergarten Registration

Children who will be 5 years old on or before September 30, 2020 are eligible to attend Kindergarten in the 2020-2021 school year. Enrollment in Kindergarten for residents is a three step process.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  VERMILION ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IS NOT ACCEPTING NEW OPEN ENROLLED STUDENTS AT THIS TIME.

Step 1: Online pre-registration  Online registration is required for new Kindergarten students.  To register, go thttp://www.vermilionschools.org/Parents.aspx .  Follow the New Student Registration instructions to complete the online pre-registration form.

Step 2: Registration completion  Once the pre-registration is complete, you will be prompted to set an appointment with the Registrar.  The custodial parent or guardian must complete the process by bringing ALL required documents to the Administration office located in Vermilion High School, 1250 Sanford Street, Vermilion.  ALL of the required documents listed must be provided or you will not be permitted to register.

Step 3: Kindergarten screening  All incoming Kindergarten students are assessed using the DIAL-4, a research based assessment of pre-Kindergarten skills. This assessment is not used to determine a student’s eligibility for Kindergarten, but rather gives important information that allows the school to develop a personalized education plan for each child.  Families will be contacted regarding dates and times for Kindergarten screening.

It is very important that parents/guardians complete the full registration process so that enrollment is completed. If you have any questions, please contact the district registrar at 440-204-1723.

More details about the 2020-2021 Kindergarten year, including information about screening times, will be shared as soon as planning for the new school year is complete.  Continue to watch the district and Vermilion Elementary Facebook pages for special announcements.
