Senior Announcements

New General

Attention National Honor Society:

There will be a short National Honor Society meeting for junior members only on Wednesday immediately after school in room 301.

 

Tune in on Monday, May 19th to WEOL 9:30 am at 6:05 pm to hear your VHS Academic Challenge team compete against the team from Lake Ridge Academy in the championship round of Scholastic Games.  The VHS team won the championship last year and has accumulated $2,500 worth of scholarships for the VHS class of 2008 so far this year.  Good luck team!

 

 

 

General

Join the marrow donor Registry for free online or at VHS during our Thanks Mom campaign, May 5 to May 19, 2008. Thanks to our generous partners and contributors, costs are covered until we reach our goal of adding 46,000 new donors to the Registry. You must be between 18 and 60 years of age and in good health.  Go to http://www.marrow.org/  to register.

At VHS, we would like to add 100 new donors.

The next Vermilion Athletic Booster Club meeting will be on Tuesday, May 20th. Please be sure to join us as we will be voting on next year's officers. The meeting will be at the Bingo Hall at 7:30.

Attention Students:

Numerous cameras were left at prom.  You may claim your camera in the main office.

 

The last intramural event will be dodgeball. Dodgeball will take place from May 27 - 30. This date has changed. Sign ups will be in the main office or in room 207. You can sign up as a single player or as a team. The last day to sign up will be May 22.

 

 

Clubs

Attention LEO Club Members:

Reminder to all members that Saturday, May 17th is Vermilion Pride Day.  T-shirts, coffee, and doughnuts will be served at the Gazebo at 8:30 am on a first-come-first-serve basis, so get there early!  LEO members will be meeting at the Valleyview Pool at 9:00 am.  Anyone wishing to participate can sign in for service hours at the pool.

 

 

Sports

 

The Varsity Girls Softball Team took there West Shore Conference to 7-6 with a win over Fairview last night 8-3.  Amanda Wright pitched the win.  Leading hitters were Morgan Zander with two hits, Brit Athey two hits, one being a monster hit!  Madi Virgin a triple and a double and 2 RBI’s, Kendra Werley two hits and Amanda Wright two hits with scoring on one of her hits.  Katie Karres with two RBI’s.  Sara Koverk scored two runs.  The Lady Sailors rap up their season today at Firelands.

 

The Sailors Varsity Baseball Team opened tournament play with an 8-0 win over Firelands.  Tim Clark turned in an awesome pitching performance as he allowed four scattered hits and struck out twelve.  Adam Beach was three for four at the plate with a triple and a two run home run in the sixth inning.  Tyler Rindfleish was two for three with three RBI’s and a double and an RBI while Anthony Labondono, Wesley White and Madison Montgomery rounded out the hitting with one hit each.  The Sailors are now 15-8 overall and travel to Elyria Catholic for the Sectional Championship game today.

 

 

Attention Ladies Who Are Interested in Playing Girls Tennis This Fall:

There will be a brief informational meeting on Tuesday, May 20th at 3:00 pm in the SMS cafeteria.  At the meeting Coach Phillips-DeKam will give you the necessary paperwork you will need to complete before the beginning of the season.  If you can not attend, please contact Coach at the Middle School or ask a friend to get the paperwork for you.  See you there!

 

Attention volleyball girls! Open gym will take place this Sunday from 1 - 3. This will be the last open gym before our summer sessions.

Weight lifting will still be on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

 

Girls Basketball:

All open gyms will be then every Sunday through the end of the school year from 4:00-5:30 pm and every Thursday from 5:30-7:00 pm
