6th Grade Mohican trip
by Mrs. Beursken and Mrs. Roberts
December 11, 2009
From December 2nd through the 4th , one hundred twenty 6th graders and eight staff from Sailorway experienced Mohican Outdoor School in Butler, OH. While there, we learned how to live and work in several communities. We had responsibilities to complete, table groups for meals, and tribes for classes. Sailorway proudly set a new record for the least amount of food waste as we learned about energy required to grow the food.
Our classes included exology, nocturnal awareness, astrology, herpetology, compass challenges, shelter building, and others. During options times, we could choose from pioneer cooking, hiking to Hemlock Falls, animal care, and many games. We had a great experience.
