October 29, 2013
Related Services are support services designed to assist children with disabilities benefit from special education. Services necessary to help the student succeed may be identified by the IEP Team when the individualized education plan (IEP) is written.
Related services do not stand alone. In other words, a student who only requires a related service is not considered a student with a disability.
The following are examples of related services that may be included on an IEP:

occupational therapy assistant services
orientation and mobility services
parent counseling and training

rehabilitation counseling services
school health services
school nursing services
school psychological services
social work services in schools
speech-language pathology services
