Dear Vermilion Local School District Families,

The State of Ohio requires each school district publish their Board of Education bullying policy, which is available by clicking the links below.  By definition, bullying is any intentional written, verbal, electronic, or physical act that a student or group of students exhibits toward another particular student(s) more than once and the behavior both causes mental or physical harm to the other student(s) and is sufficiently severe, persistent, or pervasive that it creates an intimidating, threatening, or abusive educational environment for the other student(s).  It also includes violence within a dating relationship. 

Every potential bullying or harassment situation reported is investigated by building principals.  This year, the principals came together to develop a common investigation form that we will use to collect the facts of each potential bullying situation.  Once the principal has conducted his or her investigation of the incident, parents from all students involved will be notified of the findings. To protect the privacy of our students, principals may not divulge consequences that a student receives, except to that student’s parents. Consequences as described in the District’s bullying policy include possible suspension and expulsion. 

New this year is a tip line that anyone in the community may contact for safety situations, including bullying, called Safe Voice.  Information on Safe Voice will be forthcoming from the district on our website,  and district social media sites.  As always, please feel free to contact your child’s building administrator directly if you have concerns.  We appreciate the cooperation of parents and the community in making Vermilion Schools a safer learning community for all of our students.www.vermilionschools.org
