Dr. David Hile

Dr. David Hile grew up in central Ohio. He completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Comprehensive Social Studies Education at The Ohio State University in 1993. He completed a Master of Science Degree in Political Science at the University of Wyoming in 1994, and a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Administration at Ashland University in 2003. He completed the Superintendents’ Academy at Ohio University in 2007, and his doctorate in Educational Leadership at Miami University, Oxford in August 2018.
David began his teaching career at Newark High School in 1994 where he taught history, government, and geography for 8 years, and coached varsity football and baseball, before becoming the assistant principal at Licking Valley High School in 2002. He became the high school principal at Licking Valley in 2004, and superintendent in 2007. He co-founded the Children’s Reading Foundation of Licking County in 2009 and served as its executive director from 2010 – 2019, promoting and facilitating parents reading to their young children every day. In December 2021, David was selected to lead the Vermilion Local Schools.
Angie Hile is Dave’s wife and best friend of 24 years. Angie teaches 3rd grade at Firelands Elementary. They have two adult sons attending The Ohio State University and two Australian Shepherds, Snickers, and Skittles.
