Sailorway Middle School needs your help for the school year. Project MORE is a reading program that uses community mentors to help children learn to read. Volunteers include business people, senior citizens, high school/college students, and parents.

Volunteers work with students; together, you read and play educational games in three 30-minute sessions. Volunteers can choose one to three days a week. No matter how much time you can give, you are helping a student improve their confidence to become better readers.

Vermilion Salvation Army, in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio, will be starting a food backpack program for families whose children attend Sailorway Middle School. This program will begin in September 2021.  All children qualifying for free or reduced lunch programs are eligible. Each participant will receive a bag of food packaged for use over the weekends and usually distributed on Fridays. These will be “kid-friendly” foods that require little or no adult supervision to prepare. To participate, please complete the forms below and return it to Ms. Wheeler, School Counselor

Should you have any questions concerning this program, please call Ms. Wheeler at 440-204-1702, ext. 504 or contact Sandi Manges from the Salvation Army at 440-967-5446.
