Thank You Lions Club!

Thank you to Vermilion Lions Club for their generous donation to our support groups!  Athletics  and  band  are  important  components  of  the  high  school  experience.   The french  fries  sold at  VHS home  football  games  and  band competitions help to support these programs.  This  year  the group was able to   donate  $1525  to  the  athletic  boosters  and  $525  to band  boosters!  Pictured here are Lion William Decker, Marching Band President Sophia Flemister, Athletic Booster Club President John Logue, and Lion Dr. Bill Hendricks presenting the donation.  Thank you to all of the Vermilion Lions Club members for the dedication and support they give our students!

The Lions Club will sponsor a reverse  raffle  fundraiser  at  German's  Villa  on  March  19 to help fund their many charitable and service projects.  For tickets please email Gary Friedt at [email protected] or Jim Ferguson by phone or email [email protected] or 440-967-4794.  Thank you for helping to support our community!

Updated! Return to School Delayed to January 10, 2022

The Vermilion Local Schools administrators and board of education are extending the winter break until January 10, 2022. We apologize for this late notice, but recent developments in our school community have made it clear that this action is necessary.

We have been closely monitoring the increase in COVID cases in our community and have determined, with input from the Erie County Health Department and state government officials, that extending winter break will be in the best interest of our students, staff, and community.  We feel that this extended break time will help to decrease the spread of the virus in our community.

We will continue to monitor the situation throughout the week and provide additional updates as necessary. Please stay tuned for updates via our Facebook page and district website!

  • Students will return to class on Monday, January 10, 2022.

  • After-school sports and practices will continue as scheduled.

  • These non-school days will be reported to P-EBT.  Qualified students will receive funds directly from the State of Ohio for meals missed during this period.

  • Bus transportation for EHOVE students will be available leaving Vermilion High School daily and returning back to the high school in the afternoon.

These are very challenging times.  We are doing the best we can to serve all students and families in a variety of situations.  Please be safe and we hope to see you on January 10th.

Return to School January 3, 2022 from Superintendent Pempin

Happy New Year to all of our students and families. We hope that you have had a restful break and are ready to return to school on Monday, January 3.

As school resumes we would like to recommend and encourage all staff and students to wear masks while at school.  This is NOT mandatory, but is recommended due to the recent increase in COVID related illnesses in our area.  Once again, wearing of masks is NOT mandatory.

Our goal is to keep students in school, with face-to-face instruction, for as long as possible, without mandates.  Cleaning crews will be using existing sanitation protocols to keep our facilities as clean and safe as possible.  Thank you for your continued support of our staff and students as we look forward to the second half of the year.

Thanksgiving Message of Wellness

On the eve of Thanksgiving, the administrative staff, including the Board of Education and myself, want to express how grateful we are for the hard work, dedication, and commitment our staff and the greater Vermilion community have given to our children every day. We are again in the midst of an unprecedented school year with the ongoing pandemic. The challenges being faced are unique and stressful. Teachers, staff, and parents have had to be creative as we all strive to meet each student’s educational needs, while also addressing social and emotional wellbeing.
