Amvets Post 22 and Vermilion High School are proud to announce the students winners of the Local AMVETS Post 22 Americanism 2014 Essay contest. This year's essay theme was "What does the American Flag Mean to Me".
The local winners were:
9th Grade: 1st place, Sammy Peters; 2nd place Christiana Leonardo; 3rd place Rebecca Oates
10th Grade: 1st place, Cassidy Cales; 2nd place Christy Fenik; 3rd place Hannah Dobinson
11th Grade: 1st place, Cara Allen; 2nd place, Fiona Gibbons; 3rd place, Allison Gossett
12th Grade: 1st place, Alexander Nunn; 2nd place Kayla Baxter; 3rd place, Emily Innes
First place winners Sammy Peters, Cassidy Cales, Cara Allen, and Alexander Nunn also received first place at the district judging. Their essay entries will be entered into the State judging competition.
