Mr. Matthew Malear began his administrative career at VES in 2019, after serving the district as an elementary level teacher for 17 years.    

Mr. Malear earned his Bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University, and returned to BGSU in 2005, where he graduated with a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  After working in several leadership roles in the district, Mr. Malear completed an additional Master's Degree in Educational Leadership.  He currently holds licenses in both elementary teaching and administration.

 

Relationships are essential to the continued success of students and staff, and Mr. Malear is committed to building positive relationships through communication and inclusion of families in the school environment and programs.  "My family and I have always felt welcomed by the Vermilion community and have a connection to the families that I have worked with.  My goal is to give all Vermilion families that same feeling when they walk through the VES doors."

 

Mr. Malear is honored to have the opportunity to lead the staff of Vermilion Elementary School. "Having been a part of this team for many years, I know that there are many great things happening at VES.  We have a team that is strongly committed to ensuring our school is a place where every child is welcome and can be successful."
