Personal Learning Plan

  •  Ohio Means Jobs is an online tool for students to plan, organize, track, and research. Students create “backpacks” where to define interests, values and skills. Students are able to search careers and develop a plan for the future.
  •  Individual sessions to determine Vermilion High School Individual Pathway.

Testing Information

  • In October students have the opportunity to take the PSAT and receive feedback about their academic readiness for college in the area of critical reading, math and writing.
  •  During April and May students will participate in the state required end of course assessments, which are required for graduation.
  • Other optional test for sophomores include the ACT, SAT, Advanced Placement (AP), and the ASVAB career test. School Counselors can help students determine their readiness to complete these tests successfully.

College Fair

  •  In the fall students have the opportunity to participate in college fairs at both Lorain County Community College and Bowling Green Firelands Campus with over 100 college participating.
  •  Vermilion High School has individual visits from over 30 colleges to answer individual student questions and discuss student concerns.

Individual Meetings with Counselor, Academic Advisement and Course Selection

  •  Individual appointments with students and parents to address academic, career and personal issues as needed.
  •  During the first semester students will visit EHOVE Career Center.
  •  During the second semester, individual meetings can be held to review each student’s academic progress, to explain and answer any questions regarding course selection, and to ensure students are taking the proper credits towards graduation.
  • Advise student on participation in College Credit Plus dual enrollment opportunities.
  •  Activity Fair.

  •  Parent University programs in college planning, Internet safety, College Credit Plus, and Financial Aid and Scholarships.
